The Spanish team captain Sergio Busquets tested positive on Saturday which has changed the dynamics of the team. Spain has called up four extra players for a parallel training bubble. This news was confirmed by one of the team officials.
The four players called up for the training camp are Rodrigo Moreno (Leeds United), Pablo Fornals (West Ham United), Carlos Soler (Valencia) and Brais Mendez (Celta Vigo).
These four players will not stay with the team as the team is under isolation following Busquets’ positive test.
The official statement of the Spanish team said,
As a provision to the possible consequences that could come from Sergio Busquets’s positive test, the coaching staff has decided to call up a group of four players to complement the training sessions over the next few days under the guidance of (manager) Luis Enrique in a parallel bubble.
Under 21 Team To Play Against Lithuania
Currently, Spain was scheduled to face Lithuania on 8th June. Now Spain’s under 21 team will replace and contest against Lithuania. The under 21 players are coming into the game after finishing semi-finalists at the Under 21 Euro championships.
One of the reports also suggests that the few players from Spain’s Under 21 team will join the reserve group of players. This is expected to happen after their match against Lithuania. Their inclusion into Spain’s national team will depend on the covid result of other players in the next few days.
Spain is scheduled to play Sweden in their first UEFA Euro 2021 match on 16th June 2021.
