UEFA Euro 2020 is set to be one of the largest-watched soccer events in the world. The tournament is set to attract millions of fans from all over Europe. Hence, the organizers have taken an innovative approach to ensure that soccer fans can conveniently and successfully buy the tournament tickets using an all-new mobile ticketing system.

The Union of European Football Associations announced that it will distribute over 1 Million tickets for the Euro 2020 matches through its recently introduced blockchain-powered mobile app. The UEFA has decided to take this innovative step in order to curb duplication and replication of conventional match tickets. The new technology only activates the tickets QR code by Bluetooth when the ticket-holder is in close proximity to the stadium. This advanced Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) powered mobile app will be offered for download to iPhone and Android users by May end.
