Moreover, Karim Benzema’s inclusion into the France squad after a period of six years has surprised many experts. Benzema was out of the national team after he was allegedly being involved in a sex tape blackmail plot.

Other than Benzema’s surprise inclusion, Deschamps has also excluded a few big names. RB Leipzig midfielder Dayot Upamecano and Barcelona’s Samuel Umtiti have failed to find their place in Didier’s 26 men squad.

In the midfield position, Houssem Aouar was dropped from the Euro 2021 squad. Aouar had been part of the Euro 2020 qualifying squad. He did play his role too perfectly but failed to make it for Euros 2020.

The remaining squad remained as expected. With Griezmann being the fourth all-time scorer for France and Dembele’s incredible, there was no surprise in their inclusion.
